How to Survive Calling an Airline

Buckle up, you’re going to be here a while

I’m currently on hold with Qantas.

The call has been dropped 7 times so far, each time after having been kept on hold between 30 and 45 minutes.

It’s been quite the night.

There may have been a weather event that has grounded everyone else’s flights too. I keep thinking that I hear someone’s voice, then rush to answer..

“Hello? Someone?? Anyone??”

But it never turns out to be anyone except the advertising robot that reminds me of how quickly they’ll be answering my call, of how much I mean to them.

The key is staying calm while talking to the person that someday picks up my line.

Staying calm is vital on these calls. The person that answers the call isn’t a personification of the airline itself. This person didn’t lose my luggage,
