Sometimes you need to borrow some happiness
Like most of us, I’ve had some really dark days in my lifetime.
Before I lived in China, I lived in Auckland, New Zealand.
I’d moved to Auckland after finishing my 7th and final cruise ship contract.
Although I’d been offered a dream show aboard a ship in the Caribbean, I didn’t want to return to ship life. For some reason, something had begun to feel wrong whenever I was aboard a ship. I just knew deep inside that this time in my life was over.
So I set myself up in Auckland, determined to find and succeed at a new career.
Life in Middle Earth
I spent months playing bit roles on TV shows and driving for Uber Eats.
In spite of my best efforts, I was finishing every month with less money than I had going in.
I was going into debt, and for what? I’d given up a career I’d spent years building on a bad feeling.
I’d never done anything so reckless.
I was spiralling. I needed anything to pull me out of this depression.
